If you’re certified in Notes & Domino 8.0, then you have either one of the two Lotus Notes 8.5 Upgrade certification tests to take, depending upon your area of expertise.
The exam: LOT-956 IBM Lotus Notes Domino 8.5 System Administration Update is designed to quiz, and certify, your skills on the new features and functionality that are essential to a system administrator doing their job.
Certified Lotus Developers who want to upgrade from version 8.0 to 8.5 need to take the LOT-951 IBM Lotus Notes Domino 8.5 Application Development Update exam. This will challenge your knowledge and experience on the new developer features and functionality that has recently been added.

Okay, understanding the certification upgrade paths that IBM has set out for us, deserves a practice test in its own right.
If you are certified in IBM Lotus Notes Domino 6.0 or 6.5 as an application developer or a system administrator it’s going to take you three exams to get certified in Domino 8.5
Now here is where it gets complicated. Which three do you take?
You can do this two directions. You can take three brand new Domino 8.5 exams.
However, it is probably a better choice to upgrade from IBM Lotus Notes Domino 6.0/6.5 certification to IBM Lotus Notes Domino 7 certification, once there you would upgrade to release 8 and then take the final upgrade exam to 8.5.
Either path you take, it’s still three tests to take, but if you take the upgrade route, you get certified in Notes and Domino 7, certified in Notes and Domino 8 and then against in release 8.5 of Lotus Notes/Domino.

What I have found interesting is that amount of books that talk about IT Certification.
The latest trend I have seen is the Project Management Profession certification exams.
These exams are offered by the Project Management Institute to provide a valid mechanism to measure who has the project management skills to be successful.
I definitely expect to see companies that require their new hires to be certified in their respective IT discipline to start also requiring Project Management as a secondary skill.

Passing this Lotus Certification exam requires a score of 80%. That’s a bit tough given there are 85 questions and you must get through the Lotus Certification exam within 105 minutes.
This test is in your certification path for the IBM Certified System Administrator - Lotus Notes and Domino 8.5 title.

Another update on the list of certification exams that RIM/Blackberry is offering. A few months back they released the BES 5.0 product, and they were pretty quick to release the exams too. Looks like they did them in parallel maybe.
