The last of IBM’s Lotus Notes Domino 8 Application Development elective tests was released recently. The test is coded as Exam 838, ‘IBM Lotus Notes Domino 8 Developing Composite Applications.’ This new exam offers a fourth way to achieve certification in ‘IBM Certified Advanced Application Development 8 – Lotus Notes and Domino 8.’
To be certified, you’ll first have to earn the ‘IBM Certified Application Development 8 – Lotus Notes and Domino 8’ title. Next, you would need to pass one of the four elective exams: Exam 803, ‘Using LotusScript in IBM Lotus Notes Domino 8 Applications,’ Exam 804, ‘Using JavaScript in IBM Lotus Notes Domino 8 Applications,’ Exam 805, ‘Using Web Services in IBM Lotus Notes Domino 8 Applications,’ or the new Exam 838.
If you’re seeking that ‘IBM Certified Advanced Application Development 8 – Lotus Notes and Domino 8’ certification and want to use the latest exam, CertFX can provide your Exam 838 certification practice test. Of course, there’s a reason that they’re keeping the tests around: there are still a lot of people who need to take them.
The update exams may only be available for a few more months, though, so it’s a good time to get them out of the way.

This past March, IBM changed the official numbering system for their Lotus certification exams. No worries, though—these changes are very simple and easy to understand.
Before, each test had a six-digit code. For example, the code for the IBM Lotus Notes Domino 8.5 System Administration Operating Fundamentals test was 190-980.
In fact, every Lotus test code’s first three digits were ‘190,’ while the last three digits were unique to each test. Understandably, IBM elected to change this somewhat confusing system to a simpler one: now, the first three digits for each code (previously ‘190’) have been changed to ‘LOT.’
Thus, the System Administration Operating Fundamentals test mentioned earlier now has the code LOT-980. Likewise, the test that was previously named with the code 190-834 would now be called LOT-834. Be aware of these changes as you search for your IT exam study guides and materials.
